First of all, Happy New Year! We hope you had a fabulous one and that 2018 has the most amazing things in store for you.
I’m sure that after all those celebrations (oh, sorry, did that flashback make your head hurt?) your skin is feeling a little under the weather. We’ve put together some little tips to help rejuvenate your skin - keeping it youthful, vibrant and healthy - and fight those unwelcome breakouts and blemishes.
Together, let’s keep bad skin a thing of 2017.
1. Beware Breakouts, we’re on to you!
Argh! You’ve woken up in 2018 with a breakout; those nasty blemishes should stay away. This could be down to a number of factors – too much alcohol, not enough sleep or maybe you’re just prone to them.
Fight back by depuffing your face and stimulating circulation – this is easy, splash some water on your face, get your skin reenergised and hydrate! This will almost immediately restore your face’s natural glow.
Stay away from that powder and makeup though! Keep it light, the less you use, the more your pores can breathe; this is essential for keeping those breakouts at bay.
Your Beauty Secret recommends: Murad Blemish Control Facial
"For sufferers of oily skin, occasional breakouts or severe acne; this facial will eliminate the underlying causes."
2. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate
At the risk of sounding like a dalek, you really need to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Though exfoliation sounds like something that makes your skin rough, it actually does the exact opposite. By exfoliating your skin, you’re getting rid of any dead skin cells which were making your face dull, dry, rough and prone to oily-breakouts.
Exfoliating on a regular basis will give your skin the deep clean it’s longing for, clearing those pores and allowing new skin cells to develop, leaving you with a new, youthful and glowing complexion.
Your Beauty Secret recommends: Murad AHA Rapid Exfoliator Anti-Ageing Facial
“Reveals younger, more vibrant looking skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles and lifting away full, ageing layers of skin”
3. Eat your water
If you’re a bit like us at Your Beauty Secret in that you know you need to drink more water but find it a bit boring, why not do it the Murad way and 'eat your water'?
It’s a common misconception that your body needs eight glasses of water per day; you can mix this up and eat your water – why make being healthy so boring? Dr. Murad is a firm believer in replacing at least one glass of water per day with the nutrients and water found in raw fruit and vegetables.
Look at a cucumber – you might have avoided them thinking they contain nothing but water – correct, they’re 96% water, however they couldn’t be better. When you eat your water like this, it is released more slowly into your body, which means you stay hydrated for longer, as do all those nutrients and vitamins.
We think that he’s onto something, give it a try, we know you won’t be disappointed.
For a quick skin hydration fix, Your Beauty recommends: Murad’s Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel
This is a unique 2-step mask which gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin as well as helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, sealing in moisture.

4. Moisturise & Cleanse
Moisturising and cleansing; you’ve heard it all before, right? Much like exfoliating, you might have stayed away from regularly moisturising thinking that applying cream to your face will make it greasier. Again, it’s the opposite – moisturising fights against dead, dull, oily and breakout-prone skin.
A good moisturise (we recommend Murad, of course), will cleanse and lock those pores, stopping any nasties getting in. So, it’s dead simple – cleanse and moisturise.
Your Beauty Secret recommends: Murad’s Refreshing Cleanser
"A gentle, lightweight non-drying cleanser that soothes skin by washing away excess surface oil, makeup and impurities, leaving skin looking soft and radiant. Prevents build up of impurities that can accumulate throughout the day and overnight, leaving pores clear and skin feeling refreshed."
